Hi, I’m Dot Perkins, a Master’s-level counseling intern currently completing my graduate studies at Trevecca Nazarene University.

I am passionate about helping individuals share their stories and build deeper connections with themselves, others, and God. I use the Spiritual Root System as a framework to assist clients in identifying their emotions, processing these emotions in a healthy way, and ultimately finding freedom within themselves.

My therapeutic approach highlights the connection between the mind and body in emotional processing. I assist clients in developing communication skills and enhancing their ability to tolerate distress, with the intention of fostering healthier navigation of social and emotional challenges. A key focus of my work is reconnection to one's own self-worth and confidence, enabling clients to trust themselves and recognize their inherent worth.

Coming from a neurodivergent family, I understand the unique experiences associated with Autism and ADHD. I strive to create a supportive and inclusive space that honors sensory needs and communication differences.

I was drawn to VOTHC through my personal experiences with therapy and the Spiritual Root System. After a long period of grief and disconnection, I found healing through the emotional and spiritual language of The Voice of the Heart. I believe in the healing power of emotions—understanding their purpose, honoring their presence, and recognizing the gift of feeling them.

Meet Dot

Master’s Level Intern

In addition to my internship, I currently work in inpatient psychiatric care as an Expressive Therapy Assistant. I incorporate art and creative expression into sessions when appropriate, as I believe creativity can be a powerful tool for emotional clarity and nervous system regulation.

Clients have described me as warm, bright, and a calming presence in times of distress. I am honored to walk alongside you in your healing journey and look forward to working together.
