Neuroscience and the Need for Connection

For Clinicians
(1.5 CEs available)

Join Colton Shannon, Ph.D. for a 1.5 hour training to explore the need for connection and how it relates to the latest developments in neuroscience.

This presentation explores the neurobiological imperative for connection, integrating Martin Teicher's research on how early maltreatment structurally alters the brain and Alan Schore's focus on right brain-to-right brain attunement for therapeutic repair.

We will challenge classical emotional views using Lisa Feldman Barrett's theory of constructed emotion, emphasizing how the brain predicts and conceptualizes internal states based on past relational experiences.

Finally, we will connect these neurological and emotional principles to the spiritual and relational honesty required for deep healing, guided by Chip Dodd's work on the essential voice of the heart.
